Dashing Rocks Bed & Breakfast, Timaru
We are a retired farming couple who enjoy meeting and hosting interesting people from different cultures. Our interests are golf, skiing, gardening, reading & travel.
We are located in the lovely town of Timaru centrally located in the South Island of New Zealand between Christchurch & Dunedin.
A two hour drive away is Aoraki Mt Book, New Zealand’s highest mountain and beautiful lakes Tekapo, Ohau, Pukahi.
Our home is conveniently located on a quiet street just a few minutes walk to Caroline Bay, tennis stadium, CBAY aquatic centre and restaurants.
The guest rooms are on their own floor with their own sitting room.

It’s a fascinating house with clear view to the sea. The room is very clean and with a bathroom inside which provides great privacy. The room has a big balcony and also the view to the sea and a beautiful garden full of flowers. The hosts are very kind couple. They provide really hearty breakfast. I have to say the experience staying here is even better than the 5 star hotel.
What a great airbnb experience! Shirley and Michael are awesome and real super hosts! Spacious room, lounge, lovely Interieur, privacy and great view from the huge sun deck! Restaurants and Beach are just minutes walk away. The best thing in this place are the hosts! We felt like home and welcomed. Michael gave us a ride to his farm and showed us the amazing landscape. Shirley’s cookies and muffins were excellent. If you get the chance to come to Timaru Shirley’s place is a must!

We had a wonderful stay at Shirley’s home and I will recommend anyone that’s passing through the area to stop here. I wish we had spent more time in Timaru and enjoy the tastefully decorated living spaces. Shirley has a beautiful garden too and the sitting room overlooks the north end of Caroline Bay… very pretty views! Rooms and bathroom are modern and clean.

Fantastic experience! AirBnB at its best. Shirley was a great host and made us feel like at home. Staying at her house was like staying at friend’s place. Had lots of interesting conversations. House is located in a quiet cul-de-sac, walking distance from beach, town centre and restaurants. Perfectly well kept with all amenities and incredibly spacious. For the discerning travellers who value interaction with locals.
